The winery, founded by winemaker István Balassa in 2005, consists of 10 hectares — 34 plots in 11 vineyards — in Tokaj, Tarcal and Mád. The philosophy of the winery is to make full use of the vintage opportunities in order to achieve the highest possible quality through the use of artisanal wine-making methods and through this to introduce the characteristics of the soil and the vineyard.

Tokaj-hegyalja is wonderfully varied, with its wine varieties (Furmint, Hárslevelű, Muscat lunel, Zéta) and its geological features, so finding the highest quality is a lengthy process in which the production of the finest quality grapes is essential. This can only be achieved through honest and rigorous vine-growing technology. The winery always adapts to the characteristics of the vintage and the area. Every year, only the amount of wine that can be perfect is produced in that year. The numbered bottles are most often dry wines and in good years, the late harvest wines and wine specialties are produced.
