Honeymoon in wine country, romantic but not stuffy, where would you go?

Planning our honeymoon and we both love wine but hate anything that feels stiff or formal. Looking for somewhere romantic, a little bit wild, great food, and cellar doors where you can actually chat with the people making the wine.

Open on region, Europe or further afield. A week, flexible budget for a special trip but we'd rather spend on experiences than marble lobbies.

Where did you go that felt special without feeling like a corporate tasting conveyor belt?

Piedmont in the autumn. Barolo villages, truffle season, tiny family cellars, and it feels romantic without a single ounce of corporate polish. We still talk about a two-hour lunch that turned into an afternoon.
