Sharing because it saved us a fortune: an agriturismo in the Chianti hills, three rooms, run by a couple who also make their own oil and a little Sangiovese. Breakfast included (their eggs, their honey), a pool with a valley view, and the owner drew us a hand-map of which nearby cellar doors were worth it and which to skip.
About a third of what an in-town boutique hotel cost, and infinitely more memorable. My rule now: in wine country, sleep on a working farm, not in the postcard village.
