Gambalonga produces wines of quality from 1902, with a long and prestigious family tradition. This winery is only 60 km far from Venice and it is under the Province of Padua. The DOC’s viticultural zone is known for the DOC Serprino wine (as we like to call it the posh version of Prosecco) and especially for a particular style of sweet aromatic wine: Fior d’Arancio DOCG muscat (from the yellow muscat family). Fior d’arancio comes as a sweet foaming spumante and as a sweet, dried-grape passito form. Since 2012 it is possible to make also the still dry version and there are only 7 producers (including Gambalonga) who make it.
Fior d’Arancio is a member of the Muscat family of grapes, and also goes by the name Orange Muscat and Muscat Fleur d’Oranger. Its name means ‘orange blossom’. This is appropriate: Fior d’Arancio wines have a fresh, delicate, slightly sweet, blossom-like aroma, very similar to that which blows around citrus groves on warm, breezy spring afternoons and although you can recognize the affinity with Muscat, it is a unique wine that surprises everytime those who smell and taste it for their first time. Apart from this indigenous grape, Gambalonga makes also Raboso, a delicious rosè perfect for summer time, international wines like Merlot and Cab, and again local wines made with indigenous grapes like Garganega or Glera.
Wine tastings are available in the brand new B&B.
