About Tokara Wine Estate
On the upper slopes of the Simonsberg at the top of the Helshoogte Pass, opposite Delaire Graff, with False Bay and Table Mountain in the distance from the glassed-in tasting lounge (William Kentridge tapestries inside). First Cabernet vines went in in 1996; the estate also cold-presses its own olive oil on an Italian press, tasted alongside the wines. Tokara Restaurant does lunch and dinner Tuesday to Sunday, and the Delicatessen has a children's playground.
Visitors single out false bay views from the pass, olive oil tasting, sculpture garden. The wines to look for are Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate dates from 1996.
