About Buitenverwachting

The quiet neighbour of Klein Constantia, subdivided from the original Constantia farm in 1773, replanted with 90,000 vines in 1825 and restored by the Mueller family, whose first harvest was the farm's first in 30 years. The name means Beyond Expectation. Known for Sauvignon Blanc and the Buiten Blanc blend at fair prices, with summer picnic lawns (no self-catering) and the Beyond restaurant. Closed Sundays; last tasting an hour before close.

Visitors single out fair-priced sauvignon blanc, summer picnic lawns, cheese platters. The wines to look for are Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay. The estate dates from 1773.

Visiting

Walk-ins most days; book on weekends. About 25 minutes from the V&A Waterfront on the M3; the estates sit within the city limits on the back of Table Mountain.
