About Babylonstoren

A working Cape Dutch farm between Paarl and Franschhoek whose eight-acre fruit and vegetable garden is the main event; visitors pick lemons and wander for hours before the wine. Tastings are seated first come first served (10:00 to 18:00 in summer, to 17:00 in winter); the two-hour cellar tour at 10:00, 13:00 and 16:00 goes into the underground wine tunnel and must be prepaid. Babel restaurant is on site, and it is a stop on the Wine Tram's Orange line.

Visitors single out the garden, underground wine tunnel tour, babel lunch.

Visiting

Walk-ins most days; book on weekends. About 1 hour from the Waterfront via the N1 and R45, or 1 hour 10 minutes over the Helshoogte Pass from Stellenbosch.
