Chacewater pairs a winery with a working olive mill on Gaddy Lane outside Kelseyville, and a visit tastes both: flights of estate wine and flights of the olive oils pressed on site. The vineyards and olive groves are farmed organically, and the family-run tasting room is one of the friendliest in Lake County.

The wines include Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, all reasonably priced, and the property's picnic tables, bocce court and horseshoe pits make it an easy place to linger.

Visiting

Chacewater is about two and a half hours from San Francisco, and a natural stop on a Kelseyville loop that can include the Big Valley and Red Hills wineries. Tasting fees are modest and usually waived with a purchase.
