About Champagne Pierre Paillard

An eighth-generation grower estate in Bouzy, the Grand Cru village at the southern foot of the Montagne de Reims best known for Pinot Noir. The house publishes two priced experiences: At the Tasting Table (about 80 to 90 euros, 1.5 hours, max 8 people, estate and 19th-century crayeres tour with four cuvees) and the Chef's Table (about 250 to 260 euros, around 3.5 hours, Wednesday to Sunday, a four-course lunch in the open kitchen paired with the house wines). Small groups, so slots go weeks ahead in high season.

Visitors single out chef's table lunch, 19th-century crayeres, eighth-generation family. The wines to look for are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay.

Visiting

Reservation required. About 1 hour 45 minutes from central Paris to Reims on the A4, and roughly 2 hours to Rilly, Verzenay or Bouzy; leave before 8am to beat the peripherique.
