History you can taste: the tasting room is an 1883 farmhouse on the Rueter homestead, whose Klevner wine won gold at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, and 14 acres of vines planted by Charles Coury in 1965 are among the oldest in the Willamette Valley. Those old blocks still give Pinot Noir, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Sylvaner, Semillon and Pinot Blanc. The Stoyanov family launched the David Hill label in 2000. Open daily 11 to 5 with a small-bites menu; tastings are by appointment, bottle sales are not.

Visitors single out 1883 farmhouse tasting room, 1965 old vines, country views. The wines to look for are Pinot Noir, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner. The estate dates from 1965.

Appointment only. About 45 minutes west of downtown via US-26 and Highway 47, a quieter alternative to the 99W corridor with a small cluster of wineries around Forest Grove, Cornelius and Gaston.
