About this winery

Idaia is named for Mount Ida, the peak at the centre of Crete, and was founded in 2000 at Venerato by two oenologists, Vassilis Laderos and Kalliopi Volitaki, to champion indigenous varieties. In the Dafnes appellation it makes serious Vidiano, Vilana and Thrapsathiri, and Liatiko, Kotsifali and Mandilari, with a sweet Liatiko as its signature.

The winery makes around 130,000 bottles a year and exports to more than ten countries. It takes visitors for tastings, mainly through the summer.
