About Kloster Eberbach
Kloster Eberbach is a former Cistercian monastery founded in the twelfth century in the wooded hills above Eltville, and one of the most atmospheric wine destinations in Germany.
Its ancient cellars and vast historic wine-press collection tell the story of nearly nine hundred years of winemaking, and the site is also known as a filming location and events venue.
The Wines
Today the monastery is home to the Hessische Staatsweinguter, the state wine domain, which farms famous vineyards across the Rheingau and makes a full range of Riesling and Pinot.
Visiting
The monastery is open to visitors for tours, tastings and dining, and makes one of the best single stops in the region. Check opening times and events in advance.
