About McGrail Vineyards and Winery
McGrail Vineyards is a family-owned estate on Greenville Road, on a rise at the eastern edge of the Livermore Valley with a wide view back across the vines and the hills. The McGrail family planted the vineyard around the turn of the century and built the winery around a single ambition, estate Cabernet Sauvignon, which remains the wine the estate is known for.
The lineup has grown to include Chardonnay, Petite Sirah and a rosé, and the large lawn and patio make it one of the most sociable stops in the valley, with live music on many weekends.
Visiting
Tastings are offered daily, with reservations recommended at weekends, and the outdoor seating suits groups. McGrail is about 55 minutes from San Francisco via Interstate 580.
