About Six Sigma Ranch & Winery

Six Sigma Ranch is a 4,300-acre working ranch in the hills above Lower Lake, bought in 2000 by the Ahlmann family, who took its name from the quality-management method Kaj Ahlmann had spent his career on. Vineyards occupy a small part of the ranch; the rest is oak woodland, cattle pasture and trails, which is why a visit here feels more like a day in the country than a tasting-room stop.

The wines include Sauvignon Blanc, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, and the family offers ranch tours and hikes as well as tastings.

Visiting

The ranch is about two and a quarter hours from San Francisco via Highway 29. Tastings are offered daily and ranch tours by arrangement; it is a good choice for families and dogs.
