La Côte stretches along the north shore of Lake Geneva between Lausanne and Geneva, the gentler counterpart to Lavaux's steep terraces. Centred on Morges, Rolle and Nyon, it is Vaud's largest wine district, planted above all to Chasselas along with Gamay, Pinot Noir and Gamaret.

Rolling vineyards, lakeside villages and easy access from Lausanne or Geneva make it a relaxed day of tasting — and a natural detour for anyone exploring the Lavaux terraces just to the east.
