About Champagne Michel Fagot

A family grower in Rilly-la-Montagne, the Montagne de Reims village with its own station on the Reims to Epernay line, so it is the one Montagne producer you can reach by train. The visit starts in a small walled vineyard and moves through the cellars, winery and old press, seen from a glass-walled tasting room; the Rilly hills sit inside the UNESCO-listed Montagne de Reims regional park. Open seven days a week, including Sunday afternoons, which is rare in the villages.

Visitors single out train-accessible village, cool cellar tour, small-group tastings. The wines to look for are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Meunier.

Visiting

Book ahead. About 1 hour 45 minutes from central Paris to Reims on the A4, and roughly 2 hours to Rilly, Verzenay or Bouzy; leave before 8am to beat the peripherique.
