About Haute Cabrière

A family-owned estate on land granted in 1694, with the cellar dug into the Franschhoek mountainside above the village and the home of Pierre Jourdan Cap Classique. The tasting room is open 09:00 to 17:00 with no booking needed (last seating an hour before close); the daily cellar tour must be booked and ends with sabrage, the neck of a bottle taken off with a cavalry sabre. Restaurant and terrace look down the valley. On the Wine Tram's Red line.

Visitors single out sabrage on the cellar tour, mountainside cellar, chardonnay flights. The wines to look for are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir. The estate dates from 1694.

Visiting

Walk-ins welcome. About 1 hour from the Waterfront via the N1 and R45, or 1 hour 10 minutes over the Helshoogte Pass from Stellenbosch.
