About Novelty Hill-Januik Winery
Two wineries under one roof led by Mike Januik, the former Chateau Ste. Michelle head winemaker; the partnership began in 2000 and the Woodinville winery opened in 2007 in a modern building with a large patio. Open daily 11am to 4pm including Mondays, walk-ins for parties of seven or fewer, with cheese boards daily and a weekend small-plates menu (pizzas, mussels, fried chicken sandwich) from Chef Tanner Smith.
Visitors single out modern architecture, weekend pizza menu, red mountain cabernet. The wines to look for are Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay. The estate dates from 2000.
Visiting
Walk-ins welcome. About 30 minutes northeast of downtown Seattle by SR 520 or I-5 and SR 522 outside rush hour; from the Kirkland and Bellevue side of Lake Washington it is 12 to 30 minutes up I-405, and from Sea-Tac about 35 minutes.
