About Rosenthal - The Malibu Estate Vineyard
The vines here were first planted in 1987, which the winery describes as the first vineyard in Malibu. The old PCH tasting room burned in the January 2025 Palisades Fire; since August 2025 tastings happen at the canyon estate itself, weekends only, as a reservation-only 2.5-hour vineyard experience among oaks and vines with live music on the lawn.
Visitors single out oak-shaded canyon vineyard, live music weekends, steel-aged chardonnay. The wines to look for are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Verdot. The estate dates from 1987.
Visiting
Reservation required. About an hour from Downtown LA via the 101 and Kanan Road to the Mulholland Highway wineries, 45 to 60 minutes from Santa Monica; canyon roads and PCH slow badly on summer weekends.
