About this winery

Silva Daskalaki farms organically at Siva, southwest of Heraklion, on family land worked since the 1920s. Irini Daskalaki founded the modern winery in 1998 and replanted the estate under organic viticulture in 2003, with biodynamic practice in the vineyard.

The wines are built on native Cretan grapes, and tastings are unhurried, usually pouring seven to ten wines with Cretan cheese and rusks. The village name, Siva, is tied in local lore to Dionysus. Visits are by appointment, arranged a day ahead.
