About Sokol Blosser Winery
Bill Blosser and Susan Sokol Blosser planted a former prune orchard in 1971, and their children Alex and Alison now run one of the valley's founding estates, certified B Corp, LEED and Salmon Safe. The 1978 John Storrs tasting room was Oregon's first purpose-built tasting room, and the newer rooms have floor-to-ceiling views over the Dundee Hills. A 75-minute estate tasting is $40 with chef's small plates included, waived with two bottles; wood-fired pizza and a Friday to Sunday wine bar handle lunch. Leashed dogs outdoors, children welcome.
Visitors single out floor-to-ceiling valley views, wood-fired pizza, dog-friendly terrace. The wines to look for are Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay. The estate dates from 1971.
Visiting
Book ahead. About 50 minutes from downtown; the Newberg-Dundee Bypass (Highway 18) skips the worst of 99W, but traffic still bottlenecks where 99W drops from four lanes to two south of Dundee.
