About Bodegas Luis Cañas

Four generations of the Canas family in Villabuena; Luis Canas (born 1928) founded the bottling winery in 1970 after a century of family bulk-wine trade, and his son Juan Luis has run it since 1989. It farms about 450 hectares split into more than 1,000 small parcels of old, low-yield vines on clay-limestone slopes. Tours walk the vineyard and full winery and finish with wines and cheese; the Sierra de Cantabria views come free.

Visitors single out old-vine parcels, vineyard walk with views, cheese-paired tasting. The wines to look for are Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, Viura. The estate dates from 1970.
