About Groot Constantia

South Africa's oldest wine farm, founded in 1685 by Simon van der Stel, with the Cape Dutch manor house and Cloete Cellar run as Iziko museums. Tasting and shop open 09:00 to 18:00 daily with no booking needed (last ticket 17:00), cellar tours run through the day, and Jonkershuis and Simon's restaurants are on the werf. It is the one Constantia estate on the hop-on hop-off wine bus, so it works with no car at all.

Visitors single out cape dutch manor house museum, cellar tours, wine and chocolate pairing. The wines to look for are Sauvignon Blanc. The estate dates from 1685.

Visiting

Walk-ins welcome. About 25 minutes from the V&A Waterfront on the M3; the estates sit within the city limits on the back of Table Mountain.
