About La Motte
The Rupert family's Franschhoek estate on the R45, with tutored tastings in the historic cellar, an artisan bakery, rose gardens and a guided or self-guided hike into the mountain (12 hikers maximum, book it). The portfolio runs from Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah to Cap Classique and a Pierneef-labelled range. The brasserie and the Ateljee art space were closed for renovation at research time, so lunch is the bakery.
Visitors single out gardens and lawns, artisan bakery, mountain hike. The wines to look for are Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Syrah, Semillon.
