About Quinta da Chocapalha
A family-run Alenquer estate on land farmed since the 16th century, bought and rebuilt by Alice and Paulo Tavares da Silva in the 1980s. Their Arinto has been reviewed internationally, and visits are hosted personally by the family, with a modern architectural cellar that surprises first-time visitors.
Visitors single out family-hosted tastings, striking modern cellar, highly rated arinto. The wines to look for are Arinto.
Visiting
Appointment only. Colares is about 40 minutes west via Sintra, Bucelas about 30 minutes north, and Alenquer or Torres Vedras 45 minutes to an hour northwest, so this cluster is really three separate short trips rather than one loop.
