Spier, near Stellenbosch, is one of South Africa’s oldest wine farms with a recorded history dating back to 1692. While rooted in this heritage, we’ve got a vibrant and conscious energy, and are home to one of the largest collections of contemporary South African art.

Our wines are among the most awarded in the country. Visit us, and enjoy them paired with wholesome, tasty food made with ingredients grown either on our farm or by trusted, nearby farmers. If you feel like lingering, our Hotel and conferencing facilities offer inspiring Winelands getaways in the tranquility of nature.

Tours

Eagle Encounters
Eagle Encounters has been going strong since 2001, rehabilitating and releasing birds of prey, promoting conservation and education, on land donated by Spier. Birds of prey keep the farm’s ecosystem in balance, making it possible to naturally control pests, without pesticides.

Enjoy up-close-and-personal interactions with eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, kites, buzzards, snakes and lizards. Take part in heart-stopping falconry displays, where we fly birds to you. Kids will also enjoy our piglets, rabbits, tortoises, chickens and unique playground.

Self-Guided Walks
Explore Spier’s fascinating history, immerse yourself in nature, encounter extraordinary art pieces and learn about our sustainability ethos on one of our self-guided walks for free.

A beautiful meander along coral tree-lined avenues, through indigenous gardens and past historic buildings such as the 1822 Manor House. Along the way, info boards explore Spier’s environmental, social and architectural heritage as well as its commitment to a sustainable future. The circular route can be joined at any point, though we recommend you begin at the Tasting Room or Hotel. Although it takes roughly 90 minutes you can end your walk at any time. There are also two callout points that add about an hour onto the walk. Comfortable shoes are recommended.

Segway Tours
Two-wheeled, self-balancing, battery powered personal transporters: Segways are the coolest way to do a breezy lap around the farm. Glide through the vineyards. Breeze through the River Garden. Take a turn past the yin-yang water recycling and re-energising plant.
