Stilianou is a small organic family estate at Kounavoi, in the old Knossos wine country. The family has grown vines here since 1922, and Giannis Stilianou turned it into a boutique winery in 2003, working about three hectares of purely indigenous grapes with no synthetic chemicals.
The list is native from top to bottom: Vidiano, Thrapsathiri and Vilana in the whites, Kotsifali and Mandilari in the reds. Tastings are intimate and usually come with Cretan cheese, rusks and the family's own olive oil.
