About this winery

Nikolaihof holds a claim no other Austrian winery can match: its cellars were in use during the Roman occupation, making this one of the oldest continually operated wine properties in the world. The Saahs family has farmed biodynamically since 1971 — long before the approach became fashionable — and their wines reflect a profound connection to living soil and natural cycles. The cellar, partially carved from ancient Roman stonework and a monastic courtyard shaded by an 800-year-old walnut tree, creates a tasting atmosphere unlike anything else in Central Europe. Wines of extraordinary depth and longevity.
